On a rainy Saturday, October 14th, the Noble’s Pond community gathered in The Point’s ballroom, changing the day from dreary to cheerful. While the outside drizzled, the atmosphere inside the ballroom was nothing short of vibrant. The central attraction, a glistening roasted pig, lay ready for serving, signifying the heart and dedication of the Noble’s Pond Veterans Association.
Adjacent to this, attendees sat at tables adorned with checkered tablecloths, engaging in light-hearted conversations under the glow of grand chandeliers. As the event progressed, it was clear that every dish had a story, and behind every story was a dedicated community member. Linda Christensen, Carolee Christie, Barb Sly, Patty Faronea, Nancy Story, and Donna DiStefano baked a delightful array of cakes. Donna graced the attendees with her homemade coleslaw, John Lawson with his signature macaroni, and Sandy Sewell with mouthwatering cornbread. Don and Kathy DiLaura’s baked beans added a warm, comforting touch to the meal.
Bob Sly, the mastermind behind the roasted pig, teamed up with Walt Waite as the emcees of the evening, both being Past Presidents of the Noble’s Pond Veterans Association. Ensuring that the event ran seamlessly, Bill Rogers, Donna DiStefano, Barb Sly, Joan and Walt Waite, Nancy and Ted Story, and Sandy Sewell played crucial roles as servers, runners, and kitchen staff. Gail Ferrelli offered indispensable administrative support, and let’s not forget Santo’s perfectly brewed coffee.
The pig roast wasn’t just a gathering; it was a fundraiser–the most successful to date, according to former President Walt Waite–to benefit military veterans, a testament to the community’s commitment to giving back. The Noble’s Pond Veterans Association truly showcased their dedication to both their community and the larger cause.
